Product Design
As an emerging technology, augmented reality tends to be immersed in curiosity, confusion and complexity. DAQRI seeks to remove the confusion and complexity by creating cloud-based AR software and hardware solutions that give people the ability to expand their creativity, communication and productivity for unprecedented engagement and impact.
DAQRI’s in-house product team was tasked with designing and developing a cloud-based AR authoring platform for storytellers, marketers, brands and educators to create, collaborate, publish and measure rich AR experiences.
Originally a bootstrapped platform, our goal was to reposition DAQRI 4D Studio as the go-to premium AR authoring platform. We designed a digital design system that elevated DAQRI 4D Studio above the competition and brought trustworthiness to the company.
User profiles were established to determine the key components and categories of the platform. Every component was then combined into a simple, intuitive user experience with easy-to-use tools that allow a user or team to establish, create, publish and measure an entire AR experience. An accompanying white-labeled mobile app provided the window for the user’s audience to engage with their published AR content.
“Out of all of the augmented reality creators I have used, this one is by far the friendliest to use.”
- Katie Ann Wilson, Diary of a Techie Chick
The success of DAQRI’s 4D Studio was paramount to the success of DAQRI as a company. The newly designed and developed platform attracted its first round of $15M in funding from Tarsadia Investments in 2013. DAQRI 4D Studio later became the white-labeled hub for DAQRI’s digital ecosystem for the industrial sector, along with DAQRI’s Smart Helmet and Smart Glasses.
